Dot-Com to Web 2.0 Thesaurus

It is meant to be cut out and laminated and is guaranteed to make your next barcamp, meetup, or geek dinner more productive and good. Let’s say I wanted to talk about Al Gore’s invention of the internet in web 2.0 fashion, what would you suggest?

  2. aaron

It’s now considered to be Tim Berners-Lee’s web.

I realize this is a joke, but why does ColdFusion (or CFML for that matter; one is a product, the other a language) get tagged as old school dot-com?

Same with Flash, which is behind YouTube and Pownce.

  6. aaron

Hey Geof. Are you suggesting ColdFusion is Web 2.0?

  7. Geof Harries

Perhaps not - it may not be young, shiny and sexy enough - but in its place could be Perl, CGI or ASP.

I have nothing to add, except that I kind of miss webrings.

Let’s start a webring. I would like Electric Pulp to create a webring for me and people like me. I have a budget of $2,000…

Very cute! But until they put a 3g chip in the iPhone, it’ll be Web 1.0 to me…

the link for digg, and second life are missing, just a thought. and i wouldn’t consider ajax being the 2.0 version of flash

  12. aaron

Hey Jordan, thanks for pointing out the missing links. I’m standing my ground on the Flash to ajax cut, though. Before it was FLV, it was the de facto make it move technology.

@Corey - just tell us where to send the first invoice…

Pretty nice list.. Flash is def not trump’d by the JAX… but the jAX is def creepin in
