Helping NYC be more awesome.

When the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene rolls out a wellness initiative, few people question the manner in which they roll. As a case in point, when they decided to utilize the Wellstream Personal Health Assessment device developed jointly by Electric Pulp and the Welness Councils of America, we didn’t question it.

What’s a Personal Health Assessment (PHA) you ask? A PHA is a series of questions regarding your personal and family medical history as well as your behaviors and activities in specific categories such as exercise, diet, and smoking. Completing and reviewing your PHA is a fundamental part of leading a healthier lifestyle and can help inform you of preventative health measures and personal risk factors specific to you.

In short, it’s an app that helps you be more awesome. Want to learn more about how you and your team can be more awesome too? Just ask.

Looking for a job? We're trolling for an apt geek.

[ep] is trolling for a web developer with massive potential. Said developer should be friends with:

  • XHTML
  • CSS

…and be familiar with:

  • PHP
  • JavaScript

…and be suspicious of:

  • ColdFusion
  • FrontPage

…and be intrigued with:

  • PhotoShop
  • Flash

Oh yeah, and he/she should be completely awesome too.

For those of you who don’t know David Hunnicutt of the Wellness Councils of America, he’s on the shortlist of the most charismatic and intelligent people in the world.

We’ve been working with him for eight years, so we felt like we knew him pretty well. Imagine our surprise when we found some grainy footage that would seem to portray Dr. Hunnicutt showing off his mad juggling skills under the alias of ‘Chris Bliss‘.

The jury is still out on whether this is legitimate footage or not, so we decided it was important to investigate a bit further and compare headshots from his/their two official websites:

David and Chris, respectively.

Anyway, we’re still not convinced one way or the other, but we better get back to practicing our new juggling techniques. If David is doing it, it must in some way make you a healthier more effective worker. Don’t worry David, we won’t bill you for our time. This one’s on us.

Urban Dictionary Word of the Day: Awesomeness Test

So we thought we’d share the Urban Dictionary Word of the Day. It certainly passes our Awesomeness Test.

Awesomeness Test

1) An act of what appears to be generosity- such as lending an acquaintance a CD or movie, etc., or allowing them to choose what to do for fun- that is really more of a method of evaluating whether or not they’re up to your cool standards.

2) An inner struggle that involves the choice between what you believe is cool and what society tells you is cool; if you allow your sense of coolness to triumph over popular opinion, you have passed the awesomeness test.

Examples of usage that you might find helpful:

1) When she let him pick which club to go to, he thought that she must really be into him, but in reality she was just giving him an awesomeness test.

2) When, against her interests, she went with her friends to see a Fallout Boy concert instead of staying home and watching Quentin Tarantino movies and drinking Coke and rum, she knew she had failed another awesomeness test and was too dejected to even find the fact that the lead singer looks like a monkey humorous.

Just another tip from your friends at Electric Pulp to help you be more awesome (or at least talk more awesome).
