Founded by former Vice President Al Gore, The Climate Reality Project is dedicated to raising awareness and spurring action to fight the global climate crisis. No small effort.
In September of 2012, The Climate Reality Project ran a 24 hour broadcast event via the web, beginning with speakers live from Mexico City and closing with Al Gore in New York. By the time the event had closed, 5,896,125 people had tuned in around the world. The stream was accessed over 6.8m times.

During the 24 Hour Event, the site streamed live video from 24 timezones, supporting 14 different languages. -

After the event, the site immediately transitioned into a summary of the days activities, and worked to get users involved in the project.

The home for this event was http://climaterealityproject.org, a site we launched in 2011 and have shepherded through several major revisions including the most recent live event site. In addition to the video integration, the site came fully equipped with heavy social network integration and content internationalization. Something in there was even enough to help earn a Silver Lion award for Integrated Branded Content at the Cannes Lions Festival.
This site is a model for using the web to get your message out there. Let us know if you’d like to hear more.
